St Ninian’s Karori Friendship Club offers a friendly, fun, safe and supportive environment for seniors. Loneliness can be a serious health issue for the elderly. The Karori Friendship Club provides a chance to meet with others of the same age group within the local community each week. It provides companionship and shared interests in a supportive environment which contributes to seniors staying active, happy, healthy and independent. We have heaps of fun, enjoyable activities and entertainment available for everyone. The Karori Frienship Club is open to all, regardless of beliefs.

Prayers and Squares Quilt Ministry
Meets monthly on Thursdays, in the Front Room at 7:30 p.m.
NEXT MEETING: FEB 2025
Prayers & Squares is an interfaith outreach organization that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt – to folk suffering stress or trauma.
The Karori Uniting Parishes chapter draws members from other churches besides St Ninians: St Teresa’s and St Anselm’s in Karori, and Our Lady of Fatima in Tawa. We also have individual members from St Theresa’s in Plimmerton and St Margaret’s in Te Horo. All members are committed to the ministry, whether they are sewing members or praying members.
Unlike some other groups that make quilts for charitable causes, the purpose of Prayers & Squares is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts. Our motto is: “It’s not about the quilt; it’s all about the prayers.”
Holiday Programme
Due changes in personnel, the holiday programme is on hiatus for now.
God is calling us to be ‘fishers of people’ who share the Good News of God’s love with others. St Ninian’s Fishing Club will enable us to work together to fulfil our mission purpose.
Members will have an opportunity to meet Wednesdays at 7.30 pm on Zoom (during term time) to share faith and ‘fishing’ stories; to build relationships and practice skills for discipleship through devotions, bible readings, discussion and prayer.

PAST EVENTS
In October 2024, we farewelled Rev Hana Popea Dell & her family, after nine years of her leadership and ministry.
July 2024 Holiday Programme
Our holiday programme had a ‘Winter Wonderland’ theme, with campfires, cozy tents, snowflakes, winter science experiments and more!
Beach Clean-Up
Our discipleship group, The Fishing Club recently helped to keep Owhiro Bay beach clean.
In Nov 2023 we hosted a Season of Peace in our community which included remembering Parihaka, Armistice Day, White Ribbon and International Day for the elimination of violence against women. These events helped us to raise awareness of violence in homes, communities, and in church; and how we can become peacemakers. We held an art display promoting peace in the community to inspire and encourage ways of raising awareness and promoting peace.
